Mauritius is a volcanic island of about 1,865 km2 almost entirely formed from coral reefs, a vast central plateau and beautiful mountains.
It is situated in the Indian Ocean east of South Africa.

History

Discovered in 1505 by the Portuguese, Mauritius was subsequently occupied by the Dutch and the French. The latter handed it over to Great Britain in 1814.
Mauritius is independent since the 12th March 1968.

Language


The official language is English but the most widely spoken after Creole, is French.

Petite Rivière


Wally is located in the west coast in a small village called Petite Rivière Petite Rivière is about 5km far from the capital of the island, Port Louis.
